wrapped around in useless states of mind, but we're still young. we have the time to realize, that we were wrong. There he stood. Standing on the soccer field, Dawson held the ball in his hands, eyes closed. Nostalgic for his childhood days, Dawson, on a whim, 'borrowed' a soccer ball from one of the rooms left unlocked, and ran out to the athletic fields. Eleven years old, a young Dawson, eager to play any sport. Soccer. Placing the ball on the ground, he kicked it once, softly, an experimental kick. It was awkward, since many years had passed since Dawson had properly touched a soccer ball, but it was enough to let the memories run. First practice, the awkwardness of knowing no one, and learning a new sport. His first soccer game, excited to even get one touch of the ball. His last game, the first one his father came to watch. And the last. Dawson remembered his father pulling him out during the first time-out, deeming soccer a 'worthless' waste of time. He could recall that day very well-the day of the 150 push-ups.
Argh. Eager to get away from his memories, Dawson ran with the ball, attempting to create a steady pace. Left, right, left, right. The beat echoing in his head, Dawson sang the silent song with each kick of the ball, soon creating a nice medley in his head. Aiming his gaze at the goal, Dawson pictured his father's head right in the middle, and smack! Direct hit. Smiling to himself, he went to retrieve the ball. Forget therapy, and talking about your problems. This was definitely the best way to forget your troubles, and cheer yourself up. It was a shame Dawson didn't think of it sooner. After repeating the cycle for some number of times, he huffed, tired. It was a wonder that Dawson could muster the ability to do that for so long, taking in the years that had passed since playing the sport. So, lying down in the always green grass-the gardeners really did their job well-of Darmon, Dawson sighed, looking upwards at the sky.
Throwing the soccer ball up in the air, Dawson caught it again fluidly. His hand reflexes were ace, thanks to the several years of guitar. Letting his thoughts fill his mind, he sighed. So many problems, so little solutions. And so little distractions. Resting the ball in his arms, Dawson closed his eyes, intent on taking a light doze in the middle of the field. Yes, he knew it was a stupid thing to do, with all the freaking jokers at the school, but frankly, he didn't give a shit. Anything to get his mind off his father.

»Leon» and now i've been gone for so long i cant remember who was wrong all innocence is long gone i pledge allegiance to a world of of disbelief where I belong “Come on Gaulen, I want to see one more lap!” a PE teacher angrily yelled, hands on his hips as he watched the boy run around the track again. God this was annoying that a pleasant free period had to be wasted like this. All he did was leave class early and ditch once or twice, no big deal. Of course, the teacher wasn't as forgiving that of all classes Leon thought he could get a way with passing up his. It wasn't that he disliked sweating or gym in anyway. All it had been was the luck of the draw, and he had chosen to pass up his last period class. Even though he was breathing heavily, it wasn't because he was exhausted. The teacher just was pushing him harder than usual, to a limit even an experienced runner like Leon could get a little out of breath. He really needed to look through his files on the law student again. Other than ditching a few classes, arguing with a few teachers, getting a detention or two, he wasn't a bad kid. It might be because when the teacher caught him he said a smart ass comment and had flicked his current cigarette at the guy's shoes. Yeah... that probably was the match that lit the fire.
While going around the curve on the track a smacking sound caught his attention in the fields nearby, causing his brow to raise curiously at who could be in the field all by themselves. The man watching him disliked that Leon's attention withered at all and quickly yelled again, “What the hell are you looking at, boy? Hurry up and finish this lap or I'm going to add push-ups to it.” Turning his face back towards the teacher on the sidelines he flashed a fake smile, and once his back was facing the man he rolled his eyes. Damn gym. Whatever, he had a few more meters and this torture would be over. Running for fun was an enjoyment. When it was warped into some messed up punishment then all the entertainment was completely drained out of it. Decelerating in speed he slowly finished what felt like his hundredth lap, beads of sweat forming on his back and forehead.
He felt the need to say something sarcastic as the older man walked towards him, but his common sense kept his mouth shut. The last thing he needed was to stay another minute under malicious eye of the devil himself. “Alright Gaulen, you can go change. I better not find you ditching my class again,” Raising his finger threateningly he added, “And if I smell that filthy smoke ever again I swear I'll shove the pack your using down your throat.” Aw, wasn't he sweet? Nodding his head he tried not to sneer as he watched the other man walk away towards the athletic building where Leon would usually go to in order to shower and change. Not in any rush though to be face to face with mister Sweets again, he tried to catch his breath while his green eyes looked towards the fields. Maybe he could cool down while investigating this mysterious person.
Shrugging his shoulders and stretching his arm quickly, the law student began walking towards the fence that separated the track and the soccer fields. Once his hands were locked around the cool metal he could get a better picture of who was now lying on the fields. Leaning his weight forward on the chain links he smirked lightly, easily recognizing the figure. He hadn't bumped into him in awhile, so this was a nice little surprise. Looking up and down the fence he frowned at how far away the entrance was. “Way to lazy,” he muttered to himself, not wanting to put any more effort running down to where the fence opened up. Placing his hands on the top of the fence he smoothly pushed himself up and after digging his feet into it, pulled himself on top of the short fence. Jumping to the ground on the other side he landed in a crouch with a slight thud, but smoothly rose from the ground. Wow, he hadn't done that in awhile. Probably the last time was when he was sneaking in past curfew. Hah, that had been a fun night running from security, figuring out he lost his key, and then opening the window of his dorm room. Those types of adrenaline rushes he lived for.
Walking towards the other male gradually he wore an interested grin, somewhat hoping he wasn't ruining a thoughtful daydream of Dwason's. Not sure the other male would notice him, he kept walking till he was next to the guy's head. Arms crossed, his smile turned into a smirk letting one single brow rise again. “I hope I'm not disturbing your beauty sleep, Prince Charming,”
he said with a little amusement, nudging the boy's arm with the tip of his shoe. “I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you can snooze a lifetime and still won't be any match for this perfect face.” Oh he loved teasing Dwason. In the past it had been cruel and vicious, but now it was simple taunting towards a rival. Eyes falling to the soccer ball and then shifting to the goal, Leon was even more stumped why the kid would be here by himself. What was a game of soccer if you were by yourself? Seemed rather boring in the law students point of view. “So really, what are you doing out here? Of all places this isn't my ideal vacation resort to just relax.” [it was a good post. ^^ must of been if it got my muse "spinning". =P][/blockquote][/blockquote]

wrapped around in useless states of mind, but we're still young. we have the time to realize, that we were wrong. Running, running, running. The black edges of the silhouette danced closer and closer to Dawson, grazing the back of his shirt. Gotta go faster, faster...turning into the just-found corner, he stopped suddenly, bumping into another. A woman. About to utter an apology, instead, he felt the woman trace the contours of his face gently. "Run love, run." Nodding repeatedly, he hugged the woman, before starting up again. But no, it was too late. Instead of coming after him, the silhouette changed targets. Too late for Dawson to notice. The woman. The figure gestured at Dawson, then the floor. He knew exactly what to do, but resisted, standing there in confusion. "Get on the floor and do the damn push-ups boy, unless..." The figure laid out a knife tauntingly in his hands, twirling it around the woman's stomach with only the grace that a practiced naval man could have. Grudgingly, Dawson let himself fall to the ground, holding back shivers. Facing the sweat-stanched floor, Dawson bit his lip in anger, refusing to look up to the figure. Instead, he replied, military voice coming out of his mouth. "Yes fath-sir."
Oof. Waking up with a start, Dawson glanced up, a grateful smile on his face, which he immediately wiped off with the realization on who woke up. Brushing the invisible dirt off his arm left by Leon's shoe, Dawson sat up on the grass, shaking off the spare parts of green that lied in his hair. Raising an eyebrow, he scoffed at the Prince Charming comment. "Thanks for that Leo, but I rather be the stableboy than the prince." Grinning to himself, Dawson stood up, patting Leo's arm in a comradely way. "If you didn't notice, they're the ones that the princesses usually fall for." Ignoring the 'perfect' face comment, which Dawson could've easily thrown back in Leo's face, he stretched, trying to ignore the dream still running through his mind. Bouncing, one heel to another, he sighed, facing Leo. "What am I doing out here..." He couldn't lie to the kid-after third year, when Leo had opened up to him in the courtyard, Dawson felt like he had to do the same. And plus, he really wasn't a good liar, not as good as Leo, who could tell if someone waslying from even a distance.
Instead, he placed the soccer ball on the ground once more, bouncing it back and forth between his feet. He intended to show Leo what he was doing at the field. It really was easier to do than talk about. Running towards the goal, he hit it in once again, a broad smile on his face. Picking the ball up from the goal, he then threw it towards Leo, running towards the kid. "Aim for the goal, and imagine the person that's causing you problems. It works like a charm." Collapsing back onto the grass, Dawson waited to see if he would actually take his advice. Thinking about it, the technique must've seemed a bit, well, stupid to watch. But hey, if it worked for Dawson, it would probably work for Leo. A great stress-reliever, it was.

»Leon» and now i've been gone for so long i cant remember who was wrong all innocence is long gone i pledge allegiance to a world of of disbelief where I belong Tilting his head he suspiciously watched Dwason get up, already on his toes from his last comeback. Leon would have easily spit something that would have swiftly torn apart the boy's answer, but he felt a sudden tenseness in the air. Not like the kind before a fight, but right after a storm and the damage was left behind. Whatever the boy had been thinking about it had to have been very deep to silence the rather social fourth year. Green eyes watched him as he dropped the ball on to the grass and back up. Scratching the back of his head he stood a little perplexed as he rammed his foot into the soccer ball's side and launched into the goal. “Nice shot but uh... I still don't understand.”
he said as he watched as the older kid ran to gather the ball. As it was thrown his way he had no problem catching it, and while gazing down at the dirt on the top of the worn out sphere listened to the other. Oh, so that's his drift. A little punching into a pillow, except with a lot more style? Placing the ball he backed up a few steps letting a few problems line up in his head. Let's see. He kind of missed Aja in a messed up way, he had a crush on Em while still flirting with other guys, his mother hadn't been answering his calls lately, his father was just the opposite trying to contact him, and the PE teacher just forced him through the flames of hell. Hm. Letting his eye's look back down at the ball he decided he didn't want the face to be Em, his mother, or Aja with ease. Cracking his fingers dramatically a grin spread across his features as the image of the teacher's face suddenly yelling at him on the face of the globe. Lovely. He was going to enjoy this. Running at the ball his foot made contact just as the visage on the sphere began to threaten him again, muffled now with too much to chew, and growing silent as it flew through the air into the net. Beautiful. Proudly he shot his fits towards the sky, the grin still on his lips. “Wow that feels wonderful.” It was almost like a little bit of his anger was taken off his shoulders and released into the air. Putting his hands around of the back of his head he looked back at Dwason on the ground. The smile disappeared to a degree, knowing exactly why the boy was here now. He was again trying to rid some of his anger of his father, a person who seemed to always prod at the musicians conscious. “Lot on your mind?” he asked, his tone a lot more calm then beforehand. He could be sympathetic when he wanted to be. Same if Leon ever wanted to be kind, which on those rare occurrences knew how hide those arrogant remarks. “I was actually going to put the face of my Dad on the ball.” he admitted, letting out a sigh and laughing awkwardly. It was obvious that Leon would always remain uneasy about the subject and totally opening up, even to Dwason. Unlike a lot of people who spilled out their guts, the law student always had trouble letting people in. “He wants me to go to court and tell them the good things he did as a dad, you know to get parole? I have half the mind to call him back and tell him to fuck off.” Lowering to the grass he released his head and began picking at the green strands. He really wished he was wearing his jeans right now. A nice rush of nicotine would really cool his nerves was just what he needed. Screw possibly getting cancer in the future or damaging his lungs. He lived off the addiction and right now was too busy using packs to relieve his stress to care about the consequences. “Instead though I picked the PE teacher who tortured me so mercilessly. He's still so fresh on my mind it's easy to picture his face.” There was slightly a lie mixed with in that statement. His dad's face was as easy to picture being burnt into his memory. The times he was happy, the times he played with him, the times he was drunk, and the way he looked when he got upset about a mess while intoxicated. You just couldn't forget that kind of stuff. Even if that part of his brain was literally torn out, he would probably would always shudder and know immediately who the man was if they ever bumped into each other again.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

wrapped around in useless states of mind, but we're still young. we have the time to realize, that we were wrong.
Wow. Leon was actually taking his advice. This really was a new one. In amusement, Dawson watched Leon handle the fragile ball, understanding now dawning for the boy. Seeing him kick it solidly into the net, Dawson grinned, clapping loudly, whilst at the same time wondering to himself who exactly Leon was imagining on the ball. His father, maybe? Perhaps Dawson would ask the younger kid-probably not though. Questions, especially as personal as that, were hard for him to phrase in his mind, and let out through his mouth. He preferred to wait, to see if the other person would reveal the answer willingly, without any prodding. Looking at the expression on the fourth years' face, Dawson shook his head in surprise. A grin laid on it-that must've cheered up Leon more than Dawson had expected. Strangely, that fact, in turn, cheered him up even more. Just the thought that maybe, something Dawson had thought of had helped another person instantly removed the clouds his father's face brought into his mind. And that was something that made Dawson undeniably happy.
Listening to the younger boy talk, Dawson decided not to interrupt, having the feeling that it would probably mess everything up. Shrugging slightly to Leon's question about having a lot on his mind, he laid back again. Actually, after seeing Leo force the ball into the net, Dawson's thoughts kind of...disappeared. But now, after hearing it mentioned, the dream came running back into his mind. The silhouette brandishing the sharp knife against the woman's neck...just like father used to do it. Dawson had always hated when his father started to reminiscent about his old Navy days, the rare times he came home from recruiting. Always, it was "When I was in the navy" this, and "We never had" that. Dawson and his mother were treated like war hostages every time his father got into those types of moods-the memories were still fresh in his mind, even after all those years. The guilt that laid in leaving his mother with the retired naval captain filled his head right then. Why was he so selfish?
"Yeah. I pictured dear old dad. And myself, actually." Dawson's tone was flat, as he realized that it sincerely was himself that he pictured on the ball the second time he smacked it. And it made him feel good. Dawson had caused so much shit to happen to so many people he cared for lately, the guilt was slowly piling up inside. It felt right to hurt himself for those people in that way, even if, in reality, it was just a black and white ball. Dawson didn't bother saying this out loud though-Leon could probably guess the reason. It was one of those things that Dawson honestly believed the other boy was good at. Besides lying, that is. Pulling on the stray pieces of grass next to him, Dawson absorbed what Leon told him. "Hell. Do it. Give your dad hell, man. He deserves it." If he couldn't do that to his own father, get the revenge he so yearned for, maybe he could urge his friend to do it for his own father. And then, maybe Dawson could pretend that he was Leon, and feel accomplished, like he actually did something, instead of just hiding in the shadows.
His P.E teacher? Yes, that was probably a healthier face to imagine than his fathers. Less anger there, most definitely. Smiling slightly, Dawson shook his head, and chuckled. "Wow. The whole reason why I dropped gym class..Is that where you came from?" Glancing more properly at Leon, Dawson noticed what the kid was wearing. Gym clothes, instead of his usual jeans. That made more sense. He really had to pay attention more, instead of focusing on himself, and his own problems. That really was a hard lesson to be learned for the musician though, it really would take some time.
