Extending her hand across the counter to get her drink, she smiled at the boy, behind the counter. She carefully turned round and looked around for a second, looking for a seat. Anywhere would do right now, Alexis didn't really care where. Well not true, she actually wanted to sit beside a window. Her eyes scanned the room until she found a seat. It looked like she was going to run, to the chair. But she slowly walked over and dumped her bags under the table. She slowly relaxed into the seat, and yawned as she took out her mobile. Alexis looked at if for a second, and then placed it next to her drink.
Alexis looked out the window next to her, and watched all the people popping in and out of the shops. She smiled as she saw a grown man running past. 'Oh, what an idiot' thought Alexis as she laughed. Her head slowly turned to look at the other people in the room, in case they saw her laughing. They would have thought that she was a bit mental.
She took a sip of her drink, as she watched her mobile carefully, she was waiting for a text. Finally it vibrated on the table. Alexis grabbed the mobile and read the text. Yet again she was laughing. Oh well these people are going to think she is a right weirdo.

a loner longing for the cadence of her last breath Starbucks, everyone's little hang out spot. The writers paradise, or it was supposed to be. Except most people in Starbucks were either nosey jerks, or came in and quickly ran out as fast as they could. And anyway, Mariah wrote everywhere she had the time too. It didn't matter where, grocery store, class, car wash, anywhere she had a flat surface to put a piece of paper or her notebook. She enjoyed writing, so unlike everyone else who seemed to write only at Starbucks so people would see them writing in public, she actually wrote because it was what she loved to do.
It didn't mean she was good, well, she kinda was but she would never admit it to anyone because she didn't want to impress people, and she did kind of think she was kinda bad at writing. But who wasn't subject to self-criticism? Well, Mariah had heard of one of the teachers who thought he was God's gift to... well... everyone. Mariah had yet to meet this teacher and she was damn glad that she hadn't yet.
But back to Starbucks. The Starbucks was a few blocks away from the school so Mariah easily walked there. Not having the ability to drive was pretty annoying but she was ok with it, for now. She pulled the door open and walked towards the counter. No matter where she was, Mariah was always bad at talking to the counter people. Whether she was at Target or some random gas station she always had trouble meeting their eyes.
Oh well, she had to get used to it. "Uh, hi," She said glancing down at the countertop. "What would you like?" The guy wearing a Starbucks cap and green apron asked her. "Uh, green tea frappuccino, thank you," She asked, glancing around. She didn't see anyone she knew... Wait! There was Alexis! She knew her slightly, only slightly. Mariah felt bad that she didn't know the girl a bit more...
The guy at the counter said something. "Huh?" Mariah asked, whipping her head around, her dusky brunette hair twirling around her head. "What size?" The guy asked in a patient tone. "Oh, yeah, venti, please," She said, flashing a small smile. The guy returned her smile and passed on her drink order. Now all she had to do was wait. She turned around and re-found Alexis. Mariah didn't know how to approach the girl but she finally decided on the most direct method.
Alexis seemed to be laughing at a inside joke with herself when Mariah approached the table. "Hey Alexis," She said, with a small wave. "You mind if I sit with you or something?' Mariah asked, still a bit timid. They weren't close friends, just, like, normal friends. You said hi to them in the halls and that was it. So, Mariah didn't know if their friendship carried over into the actual world.

Alexis smiled yet again as she placed her mobile down. She heard someone asking her something, she looked up and saw Mariah. "Oh hey Mariah, yeah sure you can sit here" said Alexis as she gave her a friendly smile.
They weren't really close friends or best buddies, but Mariah was a really nice and friendly person. So Alexis thought. it would be really nice to become good friends with Mariah, maybe one day they could be good friends.
She picked up her drink and took a sip as she turned in her seat to get, a bit more comfortable. Alexis looked at a few people who were writing away. This must be the favourite hot spot for, writers. "I would guess, this is quite a good place to write" said Alexis as she looked at Mariah.
Alexis knew that Mariah was studying, writing. Alexis didn't really know a lot about Mariah , but she did know that. Alexis slowly leaned back onto her chair and took another sip of her drink. She gazed outside the window as she waited for Mariah to reply.

a loner longing for the cadence of her last breath Mariah smiled and nodded thanks to Alexis as she sat down. She decided to vocalize her gratitude. "Thanks Alexis, I thought I'd have to sit by someone I didn't know or something," Mariah said, showing a small sheepish smile. She was a bit xenophobic, true, but she was too nice to let it show to people she had newly met. It wasn't their fault that she didn't know them, only her own for not spreading her tiny circle of friends far beyond it's boudaries. She was lucky though that most people who met her found her to be quite nice, some ultimatly changed their mind when they talked to Livvy.
Mariah had only lost a few friends that way. Livvy made Mariah out to be a weirdo, who got her jollies by listening to other people's problems and then wrote about them whenever she wrote. All of that was only half-truths though. She did listen to other people's problems but that was only becuase she figured most people were talkers and everyone needed a listener, ergo, Mariah was the best person for the job. She wrote, yes, but she never wrote about things she was told by other people, it seemed like a huge break in trust that she had with people.
Mariah nodded a bit. "Yeah, it seems like a lot of people enjoy writing here," She said then laughed slightly, "Though I'm sure some are here just for the free internet." She was about to add something to that when someone called out her drink order. "Uh, excuse me," Mariah said, her timid tone returning. She walked up to the drink counter and picked up her drink and a straw. She nodded a thanks to the guy, though she didn't meet his eyes, and made her way back to Alexis's table.
She peeled the paper off of her straw as she sat down. Jamming it into her drink, Mariah took a sip from it and glanced over at Alexis. "So, uh, how are you?" She asked, trying to start a conversation. Hopefully she could steer the conversation how she wanted it to go. But who knew, Alexis seemed the curious sort and would probably try to pry into Mariah's life, but wasn't that what Mariah did sometimes?

"Well i wouldn't have minded if you had just sat down" said Alexis as she smiled at Mariah. Alexis rested her head against the side of the window, and just sat there for a second as she watched Mariah, get up to get her order.
Alexis loved Starbucks, probably most people did but there may be those few who hate it. Well Alexis wasn't really one of those people that would hate, things or well other people. But there would be times where she could practically strange someone. Although she wasn't really that kind of person, more of a sweet and innocent type.
She watched Mariah who was making her way back to the table, Alexis lifted her head of from the window and sat forward. "Umm, well i'm actually quite good, in quite a jumping around mood" laughed Alexis as she held onto her warm drink. It was actually really nice and warm, not to hot and not too cold.
Alexis smiled at Mariah, who would have probably thought she was a right weirdo hugging her drink with her hands. Alexis laughed. "Well don't mind me hugging my drink" said Alexis, she continued by saying, "Well then how would Mariah be doing??". She took a sip of the drink and placed it gently back onto the table. Well began to hug it again.
